You will need to show that you are in Canada legally, and provide your social insurance number, plus your residential address in Canada to the bank. In most cases the process will take 30 minutes.
Deposit a small amount to open the account, and they will give you a banking card to use at ATM's. All of the Canadian banks offer "multi branch banking " which allows you to do all your business at any branch in Canada.
